Bag Fill Time Slashed

September 27, 2005
In its first commercial run at Western Pozzolan Corp. near Reno, Nevada, the Clean-fill(tm) system filled a 1/2 cu. ft. valve bag in 2 seconds!

The unveiling of the bag fill system was attended by over 20 individuals from Balcan Plastics, Montreal, First Films, Tulsa, OK, Synergy Plastics, UT, The Earthworm Factory, CA, and officials from CIWMB (California Integrated Waste Management Board) and Lassen County. It was also attended by a consumer products company who wishes to get a jump on the competition.

The bags were filled with Lassenite, a form of volcanic ash used in fertilizers and concrete products. It is a fine particulate/powder and normally creates a dusty filling environment.

Don Carroll, VP, Bag Fill Systems, said, "we were targeting a 5-6 second fill time, which is an industry standard for paper valve bags. It took 5 minutes to pass that mark." When asked what type of contents the system could fill, Don replied, "it doesn't really matter, extremely fine powders finer than Portland will fill just as fast as larger bulkier contents like rocks. What's more important, is that the filling process is clean, there's no dust."

Bag Fill Systems is re-inventing how bags and containers are filled and processed.
